The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 has always been a huge fan-favorite ever since its release. And for a lot of good reasons.
I’m sure just by reading the headline of this article you already know I absolutely love this portable speaker. I actually use it on the regular and I highly recommend this to anyone looking to buy a portable Bluetooth speaker. So I can fully attest to just how awesome this product performs.
This tiny yet powerful Bluetooth speaker promises big bass sound with its cylinder shape and 360-degree design. All the while, being almost indestructible with its IP67 rating.
Have I caught your attention yet? Curious as to how well this speaker performs? Then just keep scrolling to read my complete review of the Wonderboom 2.
For quite some time now, portable Bluetooth speakers have become so popular among the masses. I mean, what’s not to love? These devices are so easy to carry around they almost fit snugly in the palm of your hands, you can listen to and share music with anyone, and/or even start a party anytime and anywhere you choose.
And those are exactly the qualities the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 has to offer and more!
Manufactured by Ultimate Ears, they are a company that started way back in 1995 and initially produced what they claim as the “most kick-ass in-ear monitors the music industry had ever seen or heard”. I have not personally tested it yet myself (would love to, though) so that remains to be seen.
Some decades later, Ultimate Ears progressed to crafting portable Bluetooth speakers that are equipped with 360 degrees of sound with unparalleled quality and ruggedness in design. Then fast forward to where we are now, we have the Wonderboom 2, the latest iteration of their Wonderboom line.
Almost just like their other speakers in their lineup, the Wonderboom 2 also sports a 360-degree sound with impressive sound quality and rugged design.
But that’s pretty much where the similarities stop as the Wonderboom 2 had undergone upgrades, improvements, and tweaks that led it to be on top of everyone’s favorite list.
Aside from its top-tier design, the Wonderboom 2 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that can fit comfortably in the palm of your hands. It has a fabric loop on top so you can easily carry it or attach it to your bag by using a clip.
On its bottom, you’ll find the new “outdoor boost” button that enhances your listening experience to suit any outdoor environment you’re in. In addition, you also get a supposedly magic button. As interesting as that may sound, it’s actually just a button that can navigate and control your tracks.
Apart from the intuitive controls, the Wonderboom 2 uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that gives you up to 13 hours of playtime. And you only need to charge it for less than 3 hours to get a full battery.
Unfortunately to my disappointment, the Wonderboom 2 still uses a micro-USB port for charging. You can find this behind a waterproof cover on the speaker.
While IP67 is slowly becoming the standard for portable speakers, it’s still a pretty impressive feature to have for the Wonderboom 2 nonetheless. The Wonderboom 2 is 100% protected from accidental drops, dusts, sands, and can float to the surface of the water.

When it comes to sound quality, there is no doubt that Ultimate Ears is one of the leading brands to look for. This applies to their full lineup of speakers and earphones and the Wonderboom 2 is no exception. That’s why this portable Bluetooth speaker remains to be my top favorite.
The Wonderboom 2 provides a much richer bass that I find is an improvement from its predecessor. The sound you hear is detailed and cohesive enough as far as listening to my playlists goes. You can easily notice the crisp instrumentals and vocals which is really awesome if you enjoy listening to ASMR like me.
The overall experience is just spine tingling.
All in all, it’s a solid performance and what you could expect for a Bluetooth speaker at this price range.
Durability
Just like with the Wonderboom 2’s sound quality, this speaker’s durability is as tough as it gets. The rugged design helps with that a lot and you’re assured that this will last for many years to come.
With an IP67 rating, your device is completely protected against particles such as dust and sand. You also won’t have to worry about accidentally dropping this to a pool or any body of water as this will surely float for your convenience.
Outdoor Boost Button
The outdoor boost button is a welcome addition to the Wonderboom 2. This makes the speaker a lot more suitable for outdoor activities such as camping, picnics, or even pool or beach parties!
If you’re skeptical whether such a tiny device can power up a party, then you’ll be happy to know that the “double-up” feature lets you pair up your Wonderboom 2 with another one to level up any party or listening sessions with your friends.
Battery Life
Depending how you’re using the Wonderboom 2, the battery life can either be enough or mediocre for you.
Personally, 13 hours of playtime is more than enough for me as I only tend to use my speaker for music and ASMR listening. Plus, you only ever need to charge this for about less than 3 hours to get a full charge and you’re ready to go.
Overall Design And Colors
The Wonderboom 2 sports a really adorable design in my opinion. It’s a chunky, cylinder shape that is really pleasant to hold in your hands. It’s lightweight and you can also opt to use the fabric loop on top of the speaker to carry it around with you anywhere you go.
The rugged exterior also helps in making this portable speaker safely protected from rigorous outdoor activities.
While aesthetics might not be a very important factor to some of you, it’s still pretty nice to have multiple colorways to choose from and have an aesthetically pleasing accessory around with you.
Least Favorite Things
The Wonderboom 2 Still Doesn’t Support USB-C Types
This factor can be a big deal breaker for some of you. Admittedly, this is the biggest flaw the Wonderboom 2 has.
In an age where our devices are moving on to using USB-C as the industry standard, it’s really troublesome and quite disappointing that Ultimate Ears still decided to use a micro USB port to charge this device.
The only saving grace is that they at least included a charging cable so you don’t have to buy one for yourself.
No Other Physical Inputs
While it’s not my biggest concern with the Wonderboom 2, it might be for some of you. If your primary source of music or podcasts or any content you want to listen to is just through Bluetooth connectivity then you’ll be fine with this speaker.
But if you’re looking to plug in your AUX for any additional audio, then you’ll be quite disappointed.
In A Nutshell
Here’s a narrowed down list of the good and the bad with the Wonderboom 2.
Pros
Portable and nice, rugged design.
Reasonable mid-range price.
High-quality 360-sound.
IP67 makes it suitable for a ton of other activities outside of showering. It’s also drop-proof, sand-proof, dust-proof, and it floats on the surface of the water.
The outdoor listening button enhances the user’s experience when they’re using the speaker outside of their homes.
A lot of fun and vibrant colorways to choose from.
Cons
It does not support voice assistance. For some, this might not be a big deal but to people who rely on this, it’s a huge downside.
No physical inputs like an AUX slot.
You don’t get software updates from the Ultimate Ears app.
Still doesn’t use USB-C for charging.
Final Verdict
I’ve already mentioned how much I love this product and how much I use it so you already know what I’m going to say. For such a tiny, portable Bluetooth speaker to produce a deep, rich bass with powerful yet crisp sounds while also being life-proof should be enough to convince you that this is one of the best of the best.
Overall, it’s a fantastic portable Bluetooth speaker that delivers on its promises.
But does that mean you should go out and buy it too?
Not at all.
At the end of the day, it is still up to you whether the Wonderboom 2 fits your preference and what you are looking for. My review is just here to help you have options and have the means to weigh them for consideration. I only hope I was able to do those and have been a great help in your purchasing decisions.
But if you ask me, this is where you should put your money in.

For some of us, our daily showers can be a therapeutic and relaxing time. While to others, they just hop in and wash quickly before continuing their day. But however you prefer to do your daily rinse, I’m sure each of us has sung in the shower at least once in our lives.
For some unknown reason, we always seem to sound better in the shower too. It must have something to do with the acoustics. But hey, no complaints here though. Whatever it is, no need to get embarrassed by having sung in the shower before! There’s no judgment here.
However, as technology continues to progress, we are now at an age where Bluetooth speakers are a thing. Some of them come with waterproof technology too. Which makes playing music and bringing them in the shower with us so much more convenient. Thus, the creation of this article.
Let’s face it, our smartphones just don’t cut it anymore and most of them are too quiet against the loud noise of falling water. So if you’re on the lookout for the best Bluetooth speakers for showers for 2021, your prayers have been answered as the speaker gods have brought you to me.
Jokes aside, just continue reading to find out my top recommendations for you.
My Top Recommendations
1. Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2
Overview
Ultimate Ears is one of the best manufacturers and brands you can buy from in terms of speakers. Period.
For years, they have delivered and provided us with the best Bluetooth speakers in the market. Whether you’re in a budget or looking for something more premium, Ultimate Ears have the perfect options for you.
So it’s not a big surprise they have taken the top spot on our list. This model is also a personal favorite of mine. I actually own this Bluetooth speaker even before writing up this article and have been regularly using it. I guess you can say I’m a big fan as well as I can attest to this speaker’s greatness.
Despite its small and portable size, the WONDERBOOM 2 packs a punch in terms of sound quality. This particular Bluetooth speaker provides a bigger 360 sound and additional bass for its users.
In addition, this speaker has a new “outdoor boost” button as well. By pushing this button, your speaker instantly increases in loudness and clarity for outdoor listening. This feature also makes it absolutely perfect for shower listening as the falling water can sometimes drown out our music.
Some other noteworthy features to mention as well are its long-lasting 13-hr battery life and its IP67 rating. This means it’s waterproof, dustproof and it floats! So yes, it’s not just suitable for shower use. You can also use it for big adventures and outdoor trips like camping or pool parties without worrying about your speaker breaking.
So whether it be their speakers’ high-quality sound, durability, or even the wide range of colorways to choose from, Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2 is truly the best option out there for your daily rinse.
JBL is another leading manufacturer in the Bluetooth speaker industry. It’s actually quite popular among many people, and I see many of them see JBL as their go-to brand.
This comes as no surprise as JBL puts out one of the best speakers in the market as well. That’s why their Flip 5 took our second spot on our best Bluetooth Speakers for the shower 2021 list.
But favoritism aside, the JBL speaks for itself. And I think a lot of reviewers across different platforms will agree. You really have to test it out for yourself to know just how awesome this Bluetooth speaker is. Especially inside your bathroom.
Falling within the $100 price range, it’s quite hard to find a Bluetooth speaker that performs just as well as the Flip 5. It has an IPX7 rating with very solid bass and a great sense of acoustics. Additionally, you also get 12 hours of playtime and you can easily pair up multiple speakers with the party boost feature.
For some people, the 12 hours of playtime that you’re getting with the JBL Flip 5 in a single charge is a little underwhelming. However in this case, if you’re only using it for your daily rinses, I would say that is more than enough.
Taking the third spot in our best Bluetooth speakers for the shower list is the Bose SoundLink Color II.
Bose is no stranger when it comes to producing top-of-the-line speakers. Whether you’re a speaker enthusiast or not, I’m sure every one of us has heard of Bose. They’re practically a household name in terms of creating good quality speakers, headphones, and other tech gadgets.
They’ve been in the game for so many years now and that only gave them the advantage of constantly improving their craft to attain perfection. Or at least the highest quality of sound they can provide with their speakers.
Don’t be fooled by its tiny design though as this portable Bluetooth speaker is equipped with innovative Bose technology that fits bold and loud sounds into a small, water resistant speaker.
Aside from that, the Bose SoundLink Color II also has built-in mic for speakerphone to take clear conference or personal calls out loud with a wireless range of approximately 30 feet. While I doubt you’ll answer phone calls during your showers, it’s still a pretty handy feature to have. Especially in case of emergencies.
If you’re only using this particular speaker during showers, the 8-hour battery life shouldn’t be much of a problem. Though if you want to also use this for other activities, you’ll find this quite mediocre or even below average.

Another product from Ultimate Ears is their MEGABLAST speakers.
Undoubtedly, the MEGABLAST speaker from Ultimate Ears is probably one of the most rich-sounding speakers I’ve ever heard in my life. And that is no exaggeration. With the 360-degree design, this speaker provides you with stunning clarity and heart-pounding bass with up to 12 hours of battery life.
The MEGABLAST is not necessarily built mainly for shower use, but with that kind of sound quality, you will surely feel like you’re having your own concert in your bathroom. This can also be used for other activities requiring powerful Bluetooth speakers.
Aside from the great sound quality, you also get a built-in Amazon Alexa, which is one of my favorite features from this speaker. Amazon Alexa allows you to have hands-free voice control for easy access. Just simply ask her to play your music from any app on your phone or change tracks, or ask for weather updates, and a lot more things!
Ultimate Ears also boasts that the MEGABLAST is virtually indestructible with its IP67 rating.
If that’s not enough to convince you, you can also update your MEGABLAST with the Ultimate Ears app as new features become available over time.

The last speaker I will be including from the Ultimate Ears line is the Boom 3.
I understand if you tell me you want to see other speakers from other brands but I promise there’s plenty of good reasons as to why the Boom 3 takes the fifth spot in our best Bluetooth speakers for the shower 2021 list.
At first glance, you might think the Boom 3 and the previously mentioned MEGABLAST are quite the same. And I agree. They don’t stray very far from each other when it comes to structuring. They both sport cylinder designs with 360-degree speakers for an immersive and crystal-clear music-listening experience.
Though keep in mind they do have very distinct differences such as the Boom 3 doesn’t come with a built-in Amazon Alexa but it does have a battery life of up to 15 hours. They also differ in size with the Boom 3 being a little more portable than the other as well as having more color options to choose from.
So if you have concerns with how big the MEGABLAST is, the Boom 3 could be the better option for you. Either way, both speakers perform solidly and are undeniably one of the best Bluetooth speakers in the market right now. It all comes down to your preference.
Not to mention, the Boom 3 also comes with an all new “magic” button wherein you can conveniently play, pause, skip, and control any streaming music directly on the Bluetooth speaker with one touch of a button. if you’re using an Android device, you can also set up custom one-touch playlists for Spotify.
Just like the MEGABLAST, the Boom 3 also gets a rating of IP67. So you are rest assured that this speaker is not only life-proof but will also last you for a very long time.

If you’re on the hunt for a heavy-duty Bluetooth speaker with a rugged design that can last you up to 20 hours of playtime, then the JBL Charge 4 might exactly be what you’re looking for.
The Charge 4 is probably one of the most durable Bluetooth speakers I’ve come across with. And since it’s manufactured by JBL, you already know that the sound quality will be top tier.
Usually made for outdoor activities such as beach parties or camping, you can still bring this speaker for your daily rinses without a fuss as it’s waterproof with an IPX7 rating. Now, who says you can’t have your own party of one in the shower?
Adding to its list of impressive qualities, the JBL Charge 4 is equipped with a built-in rechargeable li-ion 7800mAh battery that you can charge for 4 hours to get a full 20 hours of playtime. If that’s not enough, the high-capacity battery also doubles as a power bank for charging your devices efficiently.

Cons
Not as portable compared to other speakers in this list. You might need a larger perch for this particular Bluetooth speaker.
If you’re willing to spend on a more premium product, why not try setting your sights on the Bose SoundLink Revolve+ Series II?
I can say wholeheartedly the SoundLink Revolve+ Series II is one of the best sounding speakers in the market right now as well as in Bose’s line of portable Bluetooth speakers. The only thing holding it back is the steep price tag attached to it. So I guess that’s why I don’t see as much rave about it as the other products I’ve already mentioned.
Apart from the powerful and deeper 360-degree sound it delivers, the SoundLink Revolve Series II is quite multi-functional. It’s equipped with a lot of fun features that makes the overall user experience much more impressive.
Such fun features include a built-in microphone for you to take calls or accessing your device’s default voice assistant straight from your SoundLink Revolve+ Series II. You can also opt to connect the speaker to an Amazon Alexa-enabled device, like the Echo Dot, for even more hands-free control of your music, podcasts, and etc.
In terms of portability, you will appreciate the flexible fabric handle attached to it for easy grabbing and moving around when you want to use it in different places and for other purposes outside of showering.
With an improved battery life of 17 hours, you get a longer playtime compared to the original SoundLink Revolve+. The only downside is that it uses a Micro-B USB port for charging. This could be a bit of a step back if most of your devices are currently using USB-C.

This model uses a Micro-B USB port. Quite a step back since most devices nowadays are supporting USB-C types.
Very expensive.
Rating: 9 out of 10.

This particular Bluetooth speaker is perfect for people who are only looking to invest in a speaker primarily for showering. The unique design is a hybrid between a showerhead and a speaker which you can magnetically dock onto your existing showerhead to use during your daily rinses.
Admittedly, when I first heard about this product, I was skeptical and found it gimmicky. But to my surprise, it actually works pretty well.
With sound quality designed by Harman Kardon, the Moxie speaker was made and tuned for the acoustics of your shower space. This is so you don’t have to turn up the volume to hear your music against the falling water or sacrifice the sound quality.
If you want to use the speaker separately, you can easily remove it from the showerhead and play it anywhere in your house or on the go. Additionally, when the speaker is attached to the showerhead, you won’t experience any dropping, drooping, or disruption of the water flow during your showers.

Where Can I Buy The KOHLER Moxie Bluetooth Showerhead?
What To Look For In A Bluetooth Speaker For Your Shower
Now that we’ve covered the best models of Bluetooth speakers to use during your showers, let’s dive in to discussing the things you need to consider and look for in a Bluetooth speaker before you make that purchase.
IP Rating
Of course, when your primary use for Bluetooth speakers is during your daily rinses then getting a waterproof speaker should be common sense.
That being said, an IP rating will determine just how waterproof and durable your Bluetooth speaker is.
When you see a Bluetooth speaker that has a rating of IP67, it means it’s 100% protected from solid objects like dust and sand as well as protection from accidental drops. It also has been tested to work for at least 30 minutes while being fully submerged from 15cm to 1 meter of water.
Usually, an IP rating lower than that just means your device is only protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction, as well as condensation and water sprays. Any dust or sand particle might potentially damage your Bluetooth speakers.
Luckily for us, a lot of manufacturers are setting a standard of IP67 ratings on their Bluetooth speakers nowadays. So if you can get one with that IP rating, I would highly recommend it.
Sound Quality
Sound quality is one of the most important things to consider before completely investing in a Bluetooth speaker. Especially when you’re using it in the shower, you would want to clearly hear and jam to your music as loud as possible without drowning in the noise of the falling water.
It can be quite difficult to fully assess a speaker’s sound quality if you’re purchasing online, though. Even with the help of online reviews from YouTube, the actual sound it produces will be vastly different in real life. So I would recommend going out to try the actual device in a physical store instead if you can.
Voice Assistance
Voice assistance can either be a big deal for some especially when they’ve come to rely on this function a lot. And I have to say, while I don’t necessarily use this regularly, it’s a pretty useful feature.
Depending on where your speaker will be placed in your bathroom, voice assistance can help a lot in controlling your music or podcasts while you shower so you won’t have to move around the area a lot.
Some Bluetooth speakers offer this feature by having a built-in Amazon Alexa or letting you connect the device to a smart AI device like Echo Dot.
Portability
Most Bluetooth speakers in the market are already quite portable. But keep in mind not every device is built equally. You will come to find that some are lighter than others and easier to move around in different places.
If you’re just going to use your speaker primarily during your daily rinses, then a slightly bigger speaker won’t be too much of a problem as it will most likely just be perched on top of a shelf or a counter.
At the end of the day, it’s really up to you how much weight you’re willing to carry in terms of a Bluetooth speaker.
Battery Life
If you will just be using your Bluetooth speaker for showering, a 12-hr battery life is more than enough in my personal opinion. After all, most of us only use the shower for less than an hour.
However, longer battery lives are still a great bonus as this means less charging for us and more hours of playtime for us. This also makes your Bluetooth speaker more versatile as you can use it for other activities like outdoor or indoor parties, camping, workout sessions, and so much more.
Conclusion
Overall, I have to say that Bluetooth speakers, in general, have been a growing prevalence in our homes and day-to-day activities. Whether it be listening to music, podcasts, for parties, or anything else, a good Bluetooth speaker just positively enhances our daily experiences.
No wonder we have caught the habit of bringing our speakers during our showers as well. Your daily rinse doesn’t have to be a chore and you can easily make it more fun by investing in a Bluetooth speaker.
It is an absolute necessity? Of course not, but it does help a lot in many ways. That’s why the market for Bluetooth speakers is increasing every single day. This is a great plus for us as this means we have endless access and options in finding the right Bluetooth speakers to take with us in the shower.
So if you have the budget to spare, getting a Bluetooth speaker is very handy to help enhance your relaxation and daily rinses.

I get what you’re thinking after reading this article’s title: Best Bluetooth Speakers For Camping? In the middle of a pandemic? It seems like a crazy idea at first too, but after giving it some thought, going somewhere secluded and far from congested cities for a few days is most likely the best way to practice social distancing.
Jokes aside, if you’re someone who likes to spend time alone in the great outdoors or be accompanied by friends and family, a portable Bluetooth speaker is a great thing to have so we can always enjoy ourselves with a bit of music wherever we go.
With that in mind, finding the best Bluetooth speakers for camping can be quite overwhelming as there seems to be a never-ending supply of them constantly being released in the market. Apart from that, there’s also a lot to consider before finally making the purchase such as battery life, portability, sound quality, and affordability just to name a few. The great thing is there are so many variants of Bluetooth speakers out there that you’ll never run out of choices and you’re sure to find something that will perfectly suit your needs.
So to help you with that decision and in no particular order, I’ve come up with a list below of the best Bluetooth speakers for camping this 2021.
1. JBL FLIP 5: Great Volume, Great Value
It’s no secret that JBL produces some of the best portable Bluetooth speakers in the market as their whole lineup usually comes with an IPX7 rating, making it perfect for outdoor use. Among the multiple variants of portable speakers JBL offers, the Flip 5 is my top choice for its clear and crisp audio, deep bass, and loud volume. It’s an amazing quality speaker with even greater value.
While excelling in its sound quality and portability, the Flip 5 also did not cut corners when it comes to battery life, boasting 12 hours of continuous, audio playtime in one, single charge. Keep in mind, when being in full volume, you can only get up to 8-9 hours of playtime. Either way, that surely is more than enough time to enjoy music or podcasts throughout the day whether you’re hiking up a mountain or partying in the middle of a forest.
Speaking of camping activities, you won’t ever have to worry about exposing this particular speaker to water as it is also waterproof and will continue playing even when submerged under 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Another feature of the JBL Flip 5 that is worthy of mention is its “PartyBoost” feature. This feature allows you to pair up two JBL PartyBoost-compatible speakers for a bigger and louder sound.
Moving on to design, JBL surely knows how to give us variety. While the cylinder seems to be a classic JBL shape, The Flip 5 includes 11 color variants to choose from. So if you’re picky with aesthetics like me, this Bluetooth speaker will have something for your taste.
2. ULTIMATE EARS WONDERBOOM 2: A Personal Favorite
When it comes to portability, the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 takes the cake and packs more than just a punch.
The Wonderboom 2 is a personal favorite of mine because I absolutely adore its small size yet amazing audio power. I also prefer its softball shape to the tube shape of other Bluetooth speakers sport. I find this the most convenient to bring along in all my adventures in the great outdoors, never taking up too much space in my bag.
Small But Terrible…In The Best Way
Despite its portable size, this little Bluetooth speaker can last up to 13 hours of playtime, exceeding the JBL Flip 5’s 12-hour battery claim. Additionally, according to JimsReviewRoom from Youtube, he was able to get more than 14 hours of battery life with the Wonderboom 2 if the volume is kept at 50%. So that’s something to take note of if you’re someone who likes to listen to music for long periods without having to turn the volume all the way up.
If you’d like to get an idea how this Bluetooth speaker sounds like, you can check out Ultimate Ears’ official video about the Wonderboom 2 below.
With a rating of IP67, the Wonderboom 2 can probably stand the test of time. With a rugged exterior, it is completely dust and sand proof, drop-proof, and waterproof. Gone are the days I have to stress about accidentally dropping my Bluetooth speakers on the ground or a river as the sturdy material will help protect the speaker or just let it float through the surface of the water without taking any damage. It’s just perfect for anyone who likes to listen to music or podcasts while doing more rigorous and extreme activities during their camping trips.
But what makes the Wonderboom 2 ideal for camping is its Outdoor Boost button located beneath the speaker which gives me an even better audio quality for outdoor listening.
While it’s not a dealbreaker, the Wonderboom 2, unfortunately, does not support a type-c USB port, making it not so future-proof. So if you’re someone who’s left the past behind and has embraced the type-c USB ports for all your devices, then this is something to keep in mind before purchasing the Wonderboom 2.
Another product from Ultimate Ears, the Boom 3 is also a popular and ideal choice for a Bluetooth speaker to bring along camping. Originally released way back in 2013, it has since then undergone three revisions with the Boom 3 being their latest release.
Compared to the JBL Flip 5 and the Wonderboom 2, the Boom 3 costs a few more bucks but not without more pros than the former. So if you have more money allotted in your budget to spare, I would recommend giving this Bluetooth speaker a try.
With the Boom 3, you get a loud and immersive 360° sound with accurate bass. On the other hand, while the manufacturer claims I can get up to 15 hours of playtime with a single charge, it only gets up to 12 hours using just 50% of its volume. Nevertheless, it’s still an impressive product and performs better than other mainstream Bluetooth speakers in the market.
When it comes to aesthetics, the Boom 3 doesn’t fail with its rugged design and incorporates a variety of two-tone color options that is certain to catch your eye.
Just like the Wonderboom 2, the Boom 3 also has a rating of IP67 making it great and durable for any kind of travel and outdoor activity. This will surely last some of the roughest and wildest activities you have planned out for in your next camping trip.
The Boom 3 also has this feature they call the “magic button”. It seemed like an exciting feature when I first heard of it, but in actuality, their magic button is really just a multi-functional button that controls the playback of your sounds.
With the same gripe as I have with the Wonderboom 2, the Boom 3 also doesn’t support a USB-C port.
4. ANKER SOUNDCORE FLARE 2: Best For Camping With Friends and Outdoor Parties
The Anker Soundcore Flare 2 is a staple among parties due to its fun RGB lights, but it’s also definitely a solid Bluetooth speaker for camping as well.
Being one of the more budget-friendly options in this list, the Soundcore Flare 2 certainly did not sacrifice any great qualities I look for in a portable Bluetooth speaker for camping to make this well-built product. Priced at less than $70 on Amazon, it has an IPX7 rating making it a 100% protected from complete submersion in water, a powerful 360°sound, double light rings with multiple exciting light modes to choose from, 12 hours of playtime, and a unique PartyCast Technology.
What’s so great about the Soundcore Flare 2’s PartyCast Technology is that you can sync up not just one, but up to 100+ Flare 2 portable Bluetooth speakers seamlessly and without much of a hassle!
Linus Tech Tips from Youtube was able to test out this feature by linking up 100+ Flare 2 Bluetooth speakers around his house without any fail. The devices connected flawlessly and before you know it, he had his own self-made state-of-the-art surround sound system in the house.
If you’re planning to party with every living creature inhabiting the great outdoors and want to bring more than a hundred portable speakers during your trip, then the Anker Soundcore Flare 2 is definitely up your alley.
5. JBL CHARGE 4: With Power Comes With Great Responsibility
If you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of portability for power and bigger sounds, then the JBL Charge 4 might be the perfect fit for you.
It’s not the lightest Bluetooth speaker to carry around when I’m out camping but it doesn’t disappoint when it comes to audio quality and power. Of course, a bigger-sized speaker will usually mean it will excel a whole lot more in the volume department compared to the more compact Bluetooth speakers in this list, making it so perfect for camping as I’m able to clearly hear the crisp sounds of the music I’m playing while I sit back and relax in the middle of nowhere.
Packed with a whopping 20 hours of audio playtime with a single charge, you’ll surely be able to enjoy your music for a whole day without interruption.
What makes the JBL Charge 4 shine is that it comes with its own power bank. While I normally stay away from using my phone too much when I’m out camping, it’s still a necessity as my phone is the source of my music and podcasts that I enjoy listening to.
So that being said, it’s a huge advantage that the JBL Charge 4 has a built-in power bank. It comes in handy for emergencies and I would never have to worry about my phone’s battery dying in the middle of my music-listening sessions in the great outdoors.
Like the other Bluetooth speakers JBL has in their lineup, the Charge 4 is no different when it comes to having an IPX7 rating, making it suitable for camping and other outdoor activities that may involve water. No more worrying about sudden rainfall and getting my speaker drenched when I’m camping!
6. ULTIMATE EARS HYPERBOOM: The Bigger, The Better
Coming in at under $400, the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom claims to be the best portable Bluetooth speaker in its price range and I think I would have to agree with them
While it’s obviously not the most portable speaker on this list and most likely one of the heavyweights of the bunch, the Hyperboom delivers well on its claims and goes a lot further than other Bluetooth speakers in the same size range. It has a powerful sound and booming bass which I certainly feel in my chest down to my toes once I start rocking out to songs with strong bass lines.
Keep in mind, this Bluetooth speaker is also more suitable for camping trips that you go with huge groups of friends where outdoor parties are more likely to occur. So if you’re the type to go on such camping trips, the Hyperboom will have no problem filling the great outdoors with loud music that lasts throughout the night with its 24-hour battery life as camping parties happen.
You also don’t have to worry about distance as the Hyperboom still continues to play music without a problem even when the connected phone is as far as a hundred feet from the speaker itself. So feel free to dance around your camping site.
With an IPX4 rating, the Hyperboom has no problems against accidental spills and small splashes of water. Do note that this Bluetooth speaker won’t be ideal for activities that might include complete submersion in the water.
Other features of the Hyperboom include having multiple buttons for different functions such as the auxiliary and optical options along with the basic volume, Bluetooth, and power buttons. Thankfully, this also comes with a strap that makes handling a speaker this size much easier.
If what you’re looking for is a pocket-sized Bluetooth speaker that you can just easily clip and hang around your backpack or belt or any other camping gear you have as you venture out in the great outdoors, JBL has a wide array of ultra-portable Bluetooth speakers to pick from.
This is where the JBL Clip 4 comes in.
Priced at around $70, the JBL Clip 4 is a solid option for people who just want to casually listen to music or podcasts for short periods during their camping trips without their devices taking extra space in their bags.
Even for its tiny size, the Clip 4 is not to be easily underestimated. It is running with a 5-watt speaker and a battery life of 10 hours which is something I already considered great if you’re not one to stay up all night or spend all day sitting at your campsite just listening to your Bluetooth speaker.
Like other JBL portable speakers, the Clip 4 also has a variety of buttons for different sorts of functions such as a play/pause button and the volume controls which are located on the upper part of the speaker, just right on top of the big JBL logo at the front. As you make your way to the lower part of the device, you’ll find the Bluetooth pairing button and the power button beside it.
With a rating of IP67, this tiny speaker is basically life-proof. So if you’re planning on trekking up a river or doing other extreme outdoor activities, this device won’t take any damage and you won’t have any problems carrying the Clip 4 around may it rain or shine.
More Colors, More Fun!
In addition to great sound quality, I find the JBL Clip 4 made a huge step up from its predecessors when it comes to design. The Clip 4 also offers a great selection of stylish and bold colorways that will surely catch your eye. So if you are a fan of colorful Bluetooth speakers that have loud colors as loud as their sound and are fairly easy to carry around, then you might want to consider adding this to your cart before your next camping trip.
8. MARSHALL EMBERTON: You Can Never Go Wrong With A Classic
While the Marshall lineup is in the pricier end than most of the Bluetooth speakers on this list, the audio quality you’ll get from the Marshall Emberton is certainly worth every penny. If you’re willing to spend around $150 for a portable Bluetooth speaker, then the Emberton is definitely something to keep in mind.
The Marshall Emberton is actually one of the more portable and durable variants in the whole Marshall lineup while maintaining a sleek, stylish, and classic design that’s true to the Marshall brand. To me, it’s just an overall good-looking portable Bluetooth speaker with a strong build quality that doesn’t lose its premium feel.
If the classic black color is not enough for you, they also released a cream and a forest colorway for you to choose from.
With a water-resistant build and an IPX7 rating, I can easily stuff this in my backpack and be on my way to the mountains without having to worry about the speaker not surviving the trip. It’s important to keep it in mind though that the Emberton doesn’t float, so be careful when dropping this speaker in bodies of water.
Using a 21 W speaker and True Stereophonic, a unique sound feature that’s exclusive to Marshall, you can be rest assured this portable Bluetooth speaker will deliver an exceptional sound quality that’s rich, clear, and loud for all your music-listening sessions, easily outperforming other Bluetooth speakers at the same price range.
9. CAMBRIDGE SOUNDWORKS OONTZ ANGLE 3 ULTRA: An Underrated Find
Powerful sound? Check. Budget-friendly? Check. Bluetooth Water-resistant? Check. Great battery life for continuous audio playtime? Check.
Meet the Cambridge Soundworks OontZ Angle 3 Ultra. This portable Bluetooth speaker is one of the best deals you can get if you’re on a tight budget and looking for a powerful yet portable speaker to bring along with you on your camping trip.
What’s the catch?
Don’t be fooled by its $40 price tag, the OontZ Angle 3 Ultra did not cut any corners when it comes to packing some pretty solid specs such as an IPX7 rating making it a hundred percent waterproof, a 100-foot Bluetooth range, a built-in microphone for personal phone calls, an AUX port for connecting non-Bluetooth devices, and a 14-watt speaker while having a continuous playtime of up to 20 hours.
While the built-in microphone feature is a nice option to have, like other Bluetooth speakers that have this same feature, the quality of the mic can be so-so. I would still prefer just using my phone rather than putting it on speakerphone with the OontZ Angle 3 Ultra.
As for its performance, the OontZ Angle 3 Ultra delivers well with clear and high-quality stereo sounds and rich, booming bass.
When it comes to design, however, the Oontz Angle 3 Ultra doesn’t stand out a lot and there are much more attractive options in the market, but I’d have to still give it an A for effort for at least giving us variety and offering a nice selection of different colors to choose from including a special Coca-Cola edition.
To sum it all up, you’re getting the best value while spending the least amount of money on a medium-sized Bluetooth speaker without sacrificing any of the critical features you’ll ever need from other brands of portable Bluetooth speakers. You really can’t go wrong with getting yourself an OontZ Angle 3 Ultra. It’s durable, delivers solid sound quality, and will last you a good amount of time.
Keeping these in mind, you’ll realize there’s not a lot of difference when comparing the OontZ Angle 3 Ultra to other more mainstream portable Bluetooth speakers on the market and this list.
10. ANKER SOUNDCORE MOTION BOOM: A Bigger Sound At An Affordable Price
Priced just below a hundred bucks, the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom is one of the best options out there in the market for a speaker this size without compromising quality. Some would even argue it’s the perfect dupe for the JBL Boombox or the JBL Xtreme 3.
Claiming a 24-hour playtime with its battery life, I can actually get around 21-22 hours of continuous audio playtime with this speaker when using it in max volume. That’s still quite an impressive feat as some of the more mainstream speakers in the market tend to lose more hours when their volumes are cranked up to higher levels.
The Good And The Bad
Aesthetic-wise, the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom is pretty straightforward and plain. It only has one color option which is a completely black exterior. So if you’re looking for more colorful options, checking out brands like JBL and Ultimate Ears might be a better fit for you. On the bright side, the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom is completely waterproof and has a built-in handle making it easier to carry around on camping trips without having to worry about the amount of space it could take up in my bag.
On the upper side of the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom, you’ll be able to see a variety of buttons that allows you to control the portable speaker. This includes the power button, the volume controls, the Bluetooth button, a multifunctional button for navigating your music and taking phone calls to put on speakerphone, a bass-boosting button, and a TWS mode button which stands for True Wireless Stereo mode. This particular control will let you pair up the device with another Soundcore Motion Boom.
Now moving on to the most important part, the sound quality. At such an incredibly low price, you get a really clean and loud sound along with a nice bass. You’ll be able to hear the vocals of any song you choose to play without experiencing distortion when played in its highest volume.
With such an affordable price tag, the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom is an overall impressive product that competes well with other high-priced products. It’s perfect for people who don’t want to splurge on pricier Bluetooth speakers in the same range as the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom.
As you make your way to Amazon to click on that checkout button, here are some last friendly reminders for you which you can use as a quick buyer’s guide:
If you’re on a budget but you’re looking for a Bluetooth speaker that doesn’t compromise sound quality, any of the Anker Soundcore lineups and the Cambridge Soundworks OontZ Angle 3 in this list are great options for anyone who doesn’t want to drop a lot of money for a Bluetooth speaker.
For that premium option, the Marshall Emberton is the perfect choice for you. Its timeless and sleek design will never go out of style while still enjoying a very durable product.
And if you’re someone who likes to get the party started when you’re in the great outdoors and don’t mind carrying around a heavier Bluetooth speaker, then maybe try looking into the bigger speakers here such as the JBL Charge 4, Anker Soundcore Motion Boom, and the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom.
If portability is what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with the JBL Clip 4.
As for my top picks and recommendations, it would certainly be the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 and the JBL Flip 5. They’re both very portable to carry everywhere and perfect for casual listeners like me who don’t always crank up the volume and listen to music throughout the day. They both have great sound qualities and deliver perfectly what they claim in their respective ads without breaking the bank. Having multiple color options to choose from is also a great bonus in my opinion.
Conclusion
Overall, I can say every Bluetooth speaker I’ve put on this list is perfectly suited for camping and other outdoor activities that may come up in mind. While taking so much into consideration such as the device’s durability, sound quality, battery life, design, price, etc., every brand and model definitely has its own pros and cons as well as certain unique features that are exclusive to them and make them stand out from the other portable Bluetooth speakers in the market. When it comes down to it, it’s really all up to your preferences when deciding which one you think will suit your lifestyle the most.
I can only hope that this list was informative enough for you to make a smart purchase.
So this concludes our list of the 10 Best Bluetooth Speakers For Camping This 2021. Whether you’re on the hunt for a Bluetooth speaker that doesn’t break the bank or a more premium choice, something more portable, or doesn’t mind bringing the extra weight, I hope this list has helped you decide which speaker you’ll take with you for your next camping trip this year!

A few days ago I got home to find a package waiting for me. I found a set of Sonos Play 5 speakers ready to be taken through its paces. In this review, I’ll give you a rundown of what I loved during my time with the stylish portable boom box.
Product Review: Sonos Play 5 Wireless Speakers Colours Available: Black, White Guarantee: 1-year Limited Warranty Product Rating: 9 out of 10★★★★★★★★★☆
Sonos produces some of the best wireless speakers. Their speakers can be used to stream music from services such as Spotify, Pandora, Rhapsody or directly from your computer through a media player like iTunes.
Sono also provides iPhone and Android apps that enable your phone to act as a controller for the above services, which do not need to be streamed directly from your phone unless you want them to be.
Sonos takes things up a notch by providing a fantastic range of customisation, the clever phone app makes it a joy to control every setting from sound quality to the simple setup and installation.
Sono Play5 can be played independently or, if your budget permits, can be simultaneously synced to other Sonos speakers and placed in different rooms for the ultimate listening experience. You can control your speakers with the same phone and set grouping options.
Each speaker has its own wireless network, amplifier, wireless access to your whole music collection on your laptop/computer or the internet, and can be controlled via the Sonos mobile apps.
If you would like to connect an existing stereo system to the Sonos setup you can do so with a Sono-Connect device which provides an input source for your stereo system.
You could also add a Sonos-Connect-Amp which is a little box that acts as both the Amp and Source for third party speakers. The Connect devices can be controlled by the Sonos mobile apps.
How well did the Sonos Play5 perform?
My favourite feature is having immediate access to the iTunes library on my computer without the need to transfer the track to my phone or tablet first. Sonos has made it seamless to use third-party music services such as Spotify and internet radio.
Playing music throughout the house using a single device (iPad or iPhone) just adds to the enjoyment of owning a Sonos system.
Sonos also make sure that the mentioned features are so simple to use that even a toddler could operate them. This simplicity doesn’t take anything away from your enjoyment and experience. If you opt for more than one speaker each one can play its own song or playlist or can be synced to play the same music group in any number of rooms.
You can control the volume of any speaker or adjust the volume for a particular music group. Normally this level of multi-zone functionality would cost considerably more and some speakers don’t even offer such intuitive features. A majority of airplay or Bluetooth speakers don’t offer these functions.
The fact that I’m able to play different songs in multiple rooms from an iTunes library located on one laptop/computer is technically exceptional and isn’t something you find on standard speakers.
You can also play tracks from different libraries on different computers or from network-attached storage all from a SINGLE device. Even if you don’t use some of this functionality it’s nice to know that it’s there for when you might need it in future.
If any of my friends come over they can stream music from their iPhones to my Sonos system using apple Airplay as long as they are within wifi range. The newer versions of the Sonos Apps make this possible without the need for Airport express and allow the iPhone/iPod/iPad to stream the iTunes music from the device to the Sonos Play5 system over wifi.
The sound would travel from the mobile device to the wifi router and then from the router to the speaker via SonosNet).
From day one the Play5 speakers have been awesome and so far they work with no glitches. It’s nice to have such immediate flexible access to my music without the need for getting to the computer and plugging speakers in.
Bridge or No Bridge?
Earlier versions of Sonos required there to be a bridge i.e. a main Sonos speaker to be hardwired to a router. This is no longer required however it’s very useful if your other Sonos devices are not within the wifi range of your router, a bridge would be used to increase your router’s wifi range and wirelessly link the other Sonos speakers.
My house is on 3 levels and the wifi signal struggles to reach the top, so this feature is handy.
A clever Sonos Wireless Network
Each Sonos speaker can use your home Wifi network or, the Sonos Wireless Network which also provides an advantage over rival speaker because each Sonos speaker wirelessly connects directly with other Sonos speakers using a ‘wireless mesh network’.
Which means that when you have several Sonos devices, each one becomes a wireless relay to the next nearest device and the next until they reach your router. This means several Sonos speakers would give you better wireless streaming connections compared to a standard wireless speaker.
Another bonus is the Sonos wireless network is the additional ethernet port included on the Sonos speaker which would give a reliable internet connection to the internet to any device that’s able to use an ethernet port.
You would be able to expand your wifi network to out of reach areas of the house that struggle to get a strong wifi signal, by connecting a standard low-cost WiFi access point into the ethernet port of your Sonos Play5.
The clever networking system means that these ethernet ports can offer a robust network connection that would improve video streaming on services such as Netflix or AppleTV compared to the build-in Wifi on those devices.
Advantages
Complete control of your entire music collection (on one or several computers) from a single device.
Because your phone acts as a controller (if you choose to) you are not wasting any of its battery life or compromising on sound quality.
The volume can go really loud without any distortion or loss in quality
Your phone can still answer calls or use its other functions, with no interruption to the music system. Great if you have people around and want the music to keep going.
Intuitive app to easily use various music services such as Spotify, Pandora and internet radio. You can also quickly find and play local radio sorted by location or can be searched by genre, station name etc.
Play5 are future-proofed to add additional Sono zones or several zones at any time
The app features are compatible with both apple and android devices.
Final Verdict
I wasn’t expecting this level of functionality from a portable speaker and would say that the Sonos Play5 really delivered and made light work of features that would often be perceived as complicated to use. Well Done Sonos. You have a customer for life.
Where Can You Buy The Sonos Play 5?
US: Purchase it on Amazon.com for only $498.00 UK: Purchase it on Amazon.co.uk for only £389.00
