Why Do We Need Headphones For Our Workouts?

how-to-buy-wireless-headphones-for-workouts-overview-1

As you might already know by now, there are various benefits that come with listening to music while we go through our workout routines. One study suggests that music changes and has a certain effect on the body and mind during physical exertion. It relieves pain and fatigue by elevating mood, increasing endurance, reducing perceived effort, and maybe promoting metabolic efficiency.

As a result, people run farther, ride longer, and swim faster when listening to music, and often without realizing it. Furthermore, Costas Karageorghis of Brunel University in London, one of the world’s leading specialists on the psychology of exercise music, noted in a 2012 review of the study that music may be thought of as “a type of legal performance-enhancing drug.”

With the correct pair of headphones on your head, you’ll not only be able to enjoy your favorite music, but you’ll also feel more motivated and fired up to complete your strenuous workout routines. On top of that, the best headphones can block out any other distracting noises that may be present in the gym.

The incessant clanking of metal against metal, your other gymgoers’ grunts and groans, and the list goes on and on are all examples of such noises. If you don’t enjoy listening to this style of music, a pair of headphones will undoubtedly let you escape from the scenario.

After all, nothing beats listening to your favorite music or songs to help you get through your workout and ensure a solid finish. With that in mind, while the best headphones on the market for 2021 will sound great and give excellent quality regardless. But to help you out in finding the perfect pair for you, our guide will aid you in what to look for on your next workout headphones.

Stay Wired Or Go Wireless?

how-to-buy-wireless-headphones-for-workouts-overview-2

I’m sure you’ve used a variety of headphones and earphones in your lifetime. You may already have your tried and true faves, and you’re well aware that some models are simply superior to others and better suited to working out.

While many of the best wireless headphones sound great, only a few have a secure enough fit in your ears to let you run, jump, squat, and crunch without them falling out. You don’t want to be tethered to your earphones or continuously fiddling with them while you’re running on a treadmill or lifting a barbell, believe me.

I do understand why a lot of people still lean towards wired earbuds though. There are a few reasons why wired earbuds are still so widely popular. To begin with, you’ll never have to charge them. Simply connect them to your device and go. Not having to worry about losing a bloom is also a great relief for people who are forgetful like me.

However, if you’ve ever unintentionally tugged a bud out of your ear when your arm caught on the cord, you’ll understand why going wireless can also be quite appealing. In my opinion, the ideal workout headphones or earbuds for any gymgoer are wireless headphones.

They should preferably be true wireless earphones that do not impede your mobility in any way. Apart from that, headphones should also give a secure and comfortable fit, whether they’re over-ear headphones with a plush ear cup or in-ear earbuds with silicone ear tips. It goes without saying that losing an earbud while running or riding a bike is a major annoyance.

Difference Between Earphones & Headphones

how-to-buy-wireless-headphones-for-workouts-overview-3

For some, the choice between these two types of devices may not be critical. In fact, for some of you, the only thing that matters is that they provide excellent sound quality while still being sweat-resistant and durable enough to last numerous gym sessions. However, if you’re unsure whether to go with headphones or earbuds, I’ve highlighted the benefits and drawbacks of each gadget below.

Earphones

earphones-vs-headphones-1

Until recently, the majority of earphones we were familiar with came with a cord. However, as technology advances, the choice for Bluetooth earphones has become more widespread and has dominated the market since the major smartphone makers decided to remove the headphone jack from their smartphones.

They also make wireless earphones that don’t require any connections and can connect to your Bluetooth device on their own. There are also changes in the shapes and sizes of these earpieces. Some of you may have noticed that some of them are sphere-shaped and that they were precisely designed to fit in your ear canal ergonomically.

Earphones with G-shaped earpieces will fit comfortably in your ear. You can run with them, do box jumps, jump rope, or shoot hoops without worrying about them slipping out. For some of you, this may be a deciding factor in determining whether or not an earbud is suitable for your workouts.

Meanwhile, sphere-shaped earbuds are more widespread, although they tend to fall out too easily and don’t allow for quick movements due to the possibility of them coming out. Earphones with headphones, on the other hand, have the advantage of being less cumbersome. You won’t have any trouble slipping them into your pockets.

Headphones

earphones-vs-headphones-2

Headphones, like earbuds, can be wired or wirelessly connected to your smartphone. They also come in two different styles: over-the-ear and on-the-ear. Furthermore, a band that crosses over the top of your head and links each earpiece secures headphones to your head.

Over-the-ear headphones provide superior sound since they occupy the space just outside your ear. Earbuds, on the other hand, are inserted directly into your ear canal. This improves the sound quality and helps to eliminate distracting background noises.

If you love getting into your zone and ignoring everyone and everything else going on at the gym, over-the-ear headphones might be appropriate for you. Although on-ear headphones reduce ambient noise blockage slightly, some individuals prefer to be aware of their surroundings and hear what’s going on around them, so it’s a personal choice.

On the other hand, headphones that cover your full ear can trap sweat around your ear. Because of the fact that your skull generates the most heat of any area of your body. Over time, wearing tight-fitting headphones over your ears might cause them to sweat and become uncomfortable.

Furthermore, when wearing headphones, you will have to sacrifice your hair or wear a cap owing to the tight fit of the band. Headphone hair isn’t the most appealing sight. But hey, if looking good is essential to you, the decision is up to you.

Things To Look For In Your Next Pair Of Workout Headphones

Comfort & Fit

comfort-and-fit

Comfy headphones are just as crucial as comfortable sneakers while you’re out for a run or in the middle of a tough workout. Nothing depletes adrenaline faster than having to slow down to change an earpiece. The fit of workout headphones varies a lot, and there are a lot of them on the market.

In-ear headphones are popular among fitness enthusiasts, specifically with runners. They appear to have everything you need in a wireless earbud for exercise: comfort, compactness, and lightness. Not to mention, in-ear pieces are typically one-size-fits-all, which might be irritating if your ear shape doesn’t match the earbuds.

This will result in the earbuds fitting less snugly and falling out more frequently during workouts. Though more brands nowadays offer customized ear tips to accommodate different ear shapes. They do, however, block off your ear by nature, offering some passive noise reduction. This is ideal if you want to really focus and don’t want to hear external ambient noises.

On the other hand, wireless over-ear headphones have over-the-ear ear cups and a headband to keep the headphones in place on top of your head. In terms of form factor, over-ear headphones are more likely to stay snug when you’re exercising. However, this is only true if the clamping force around your head is not excessive. Otherwise, wearing it will become progressively unpleasant over time.

Apart from that, over-ear headphones have their own set of disadvantages. They are thicker than in-ear headphones, and if the earpads are not washable or properly cared for, sweat will damage them.

Battery Life

battery-life

Your workout headphones’ battery life is an important feature that shouldn’t be overlooked when shopping for your next pair. The music you’re listening to should last longer than your workout. You can’t have your headphones quit before you do if your music is providing you the extra boost you need to push past your boundaries.

So, when you’re using them, it’s important to pay attention to how long they last each charge and how easy and quick they are to charge when you’re not. Most of the best wireless headphones nowadays offer up to 24 hours of listening time if you have their dedicated charging case and they should also last you about a good handful of hours without them.

Audio Quality

audio-performance

Obviously, when buying wireless headphones for your working out, it’s important to get a pair that provides excellent audio quality. But each pair of headphones are built differently and tend to prioritize certain aspects of music. For example, the Jabra Elite Active 75t will be excellent for people who like loud music during intense workouts and like to hear full-bodied basses.

It’s also best to keep in mind that higher-end headphones produce excellent sound and come with a slew of features that improve not only the audio but also the listening experience. They’re also expensive, but in the realm of audio, you get what you pay for.

Noise Cancellation

noise-cancellation

Headphones that can isolate and eliminate extraneous sound, which is divided into active and passive types, are desirable pieces of equipment. Noise-canceling headphones are ideal for commuters, travelers, and even some types of work since they allow you to focus on what matters most: the sound.

The physical architecture of the headphone unit is primarily responsible for passive noise cancellation. By sealing the ear canal, in-ear models cancel out ambient noise, and over-ear models eliminate noise by covering the entire ear. For a more comprehensive form of ambient noise removal, active noise-canceling uses specific frequencies to cancel out extraneous sound.

Both passive and active noise canceling work together to immerse you in your favorite audio, especially with over-ear and on-ear styles. Furthermore, Adaptive Noise Cancellation is a function of some headphones that adjusts the intensity of noise cancellation to the level of ambient noise.

Looking For A Pair Of Headphones With Excellent Noise Cancellation? Check Out Our Review Of The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Here.

sweat-and-water-resistance

Sweat & Water Resistance

Some headphones are water and perspiration resistant to differing degrees. Water and sweat resistance is a characteristic that is particularly popular with headphones built for sports or working out, but it is also a useful feature for regular music listeners. A few drops of water on your headphones is the last thing you want to happen.

Furthermore, the ultimate proof test for workout headphones is water and perspiration, which has a big impact on their durability. If headphones aren’t water or sweat-resistant, they may become ineffective or even impossible to use in the long run.

As a result, it’s critical to think about the level of protection offered by headphones and whether you need water-resistant or waterproof headphones. In the industry, the Ingress Protection (IP) rating is used to indicate how sweat-proof or water-proof a product is.

Conclusion

Now that we’ve reached the last part of our buyer’s guide, I hope I was able to help you out in choosing your next pair of workout headphones. All in all, it’s best to keep in mind that everything comes down to your personal preference and you’ll always know better which works for you the best.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review: The Best Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Over the years, the vast majority of Bose‘s noise-canceling headphones have been on- and over-ear designs, but the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds take this excellent line into the relatively new world of True Wireless Earbuds. They go head-to-head with several well-known competitors, such as the Apple AirPods Pros. We have high expectations for these wireless earphones, but will Bose deliver and live up to its hype? Find out in our Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review below.

See Where The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Ranks In Our List Of The Best Workout Headphones This 2021.

Overview Of The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are without a doubt among the best true wireless types available in the market. This is all thanks to its excellent noise-canceling features. The majority of Bose’s noise-canceling headphones have been on- and over-ear models, but the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, while being true wireless earphones, didn’t disappoint our high expectations.

bose-quietcomfort-earbuds-overview

They’re small and light, and you’ll be able to listen for several hours at a time with them. The QuietComfort earbuds from Bose are really pleasant to use for an average workout session and have a really high-quality feel to them. On a single charge, the battery lasts six hours, and the charging case adds two extra charges for a total of 18 hours. I think the battery life is pretty alright, but it definitely could be better.

Furthermore, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are sweat and weather-resistant, making them great for both indoor and outdoor activities. The flexibility of the dedicated app to personalize some features and controls, as well as change the excellent noise-cancellation, adds to the ease of use. Not to mention, the touch screen volume controls are just the icing on the cake.

In addition, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds give a fantastic sense of dynamism, strength, and composure. When playing bass notes, the QuietComfort seems full, with a full-bodied sound that can go incredibly deep.

What We Love About The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Noise-Cancelling Features

noise-cancellation-features

At this point, it’s safe to say that Bose is the gold standard for active noise-canceling as of writing Even though other manufacturers and brands have improved their noise-canceling capabilities in recent years, Bose’s noise cancellation features have remained unrivaled.

And, as expected, the QuietComfort Earbuds deliver on that front as well. As I previously stated, they are undoubtedly the greatest true wireless earbuds for muffling ambient noise.

By touching the left earbud using the touch controls, you can cycle through three configurable noise-canceling settings, including a transparency mode that lets sound in (number “0” on the settings). These earbuds did a better job at muffling sounds than rival headphones like the Apple Airpods Pro at their maximum setting, making the QuietComfort Earbuds the category’s noise-canceling leader in this category.

Audio Performance

audio-quality

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds do not disappoint at all when it comes to sound quality. This is exactly where you’ll see why the QuietComfort Earbuds are so highly hyped about. Furthermore, the superior noise-canceling lets the Bose’s great music quality shine through to its maximum potential.

The joy and energy that the Bose buds exude are incredibly contagious. There’s a terrific sense of dynamism, as well as strength and composure. The QuietComfort Earbuds extract a lot of detail from bass notes that sound full-bodied and go deep. As a result, the deep, pounding bassline has a lot of texture to it.

Even with the noise-canceling on its maximum level, the Bose sound is full of genuine warmth and richness, but the music never seems buried or sound distorted. Not only that, but the QuietComfort Earbuds also offers so much more. Yes, they can be the life of the party when the track demands it, but they’re also adaptable enough to let a track’s mood and subtle components shine through.

Overall, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds provide a richer sound, with greater richness and a more robust, well-defined bass. These headphones are definitely up there with the best-sounding true wireless earbuds on the market, and they can compete with a lot of higher-end models from other brands.

Build Quality & Comfortability

build-quality-and-comfortability

While the overall design of Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds isn’t its best selling point, its comfortability in your ears makes up for it.

Upon touch, even the most pricey wireless earbuds might feel a little cheap against your palms, but not these earbuds. The earpieces’ smooth exterior surfaces are haptic, and the glossy plastic used for the driver enclosure is durable. The winged ear tips have a smooth, matte texture, which adds to the overall high-quality build.

There are three sizes of tips: small, medium, and large. This may sound sparse, but the tips’ edges are so large that it’s easy to achieve a good seal. To feel isolated, you don’t have to push them in like tent pegs, which is ideal for comfort. We also like how simple it is to switch out the tips. You may have a new pair of earbuds in seconds by just sliding them on and off the earbuds.

All in all, the QuietComfort Earbuds from Bose are light enough that we don’t mind listening for several hours at a time and don’t feel uncomfortable even after hours of use. They’re great to live with for your standard commute or workout sessions.

Our Least Favorite Things

Design

bose-quietcomfort-design

Bose has previously released noise-canceling in-ear headphones and truly wireless headphones before, but this is the first time the two technologies have been combined. This means that the QuietComfort Earbuds have a lot of technology packed into them, resulting in a pair of earbuds that are somewhat bulky in appearance. Personally, I think the design could be improved to make it more discreet and sleek.

Although the earpieces do not protrude much from your ears, the overall appearance is larger than that of other basic headphones on the market. Because the headphone’s primary body is at least curved, it blends in better to the side of your head.

In addition to the less than appealing design, the QuietComfort’s charging case isn’t also the most portable to carry around compared to other charging cases you might see in the market. To be more specific, the charging case for the QuietComfort Earbuds is large and heavy, measuring 3.5 x 2 x 1.3 inches and weighing 2.7 ounces. To put it simply, it’s definitely not the most travel-friendly charging case.

Battery Life

bose-quietcomfort-earbuds-battery-life

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds’ battery life is by no means terrible but for a pair of headphones at this price point, I expected better. The battery life is said to be six hours on a single charge. But with the charging case, the QuietComfort earbuds get an additional two charges for a total of 18 hours. That’s pretty decent for average use, but far from anything exceptional.

On the upside, if you’re short on time, a 15-minute quick charge should last you a couple of hours, and you can charge it using the included USB-C cable or any Qi-certified wireless charging mat.

In A Nutshell

bose-quietcomfort-earbuds-pros-and-cons

Now that we have discussed the things we liked and disliked about the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, here is a narrowed-down list of the good and the bad with these headphones.

Pros

  • Great overall sound quality and performance.
  • Excellent noise-cancelling features.
  • Ideal for outdoor use.
  • Terrific ANC features.
  • Impressive mic quality.
  • Quick connectivity.

Cons

  • Expensive.
  • Design isn’t discreet.
  • Battery life could be improved.

Our Final Verdict

bose-quietcomfort-earbuds-conclusion

Overall, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are excellent all-around and have set the standard for active noise-canceling. These particular pair of earbuds have excellent musicality and excellent noise cancellation to block out ambient sounds. They’re up to the task against any opponent at this level, with a few major negatives being the high cost and its sub-par battery life.

Do you already own the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds? How was the experience for you? Let me know in the comments section below if you have any insights, suggestions, or questions to ask about these earbuds. I would love to hear all your thoughts!

Overview Of The Jabra Elite Active 75t

jabra-elite-active-75t-overview

The Jabra Elite Active 75t is by far one of the best headphones you can get your hands on in the market. From an improved and more compact design to overall improved performance, there’s nothing you can ask for more.

Upon first look, the first you’ll notice is that Jabra reduced the size of the buds to make them more comfortable to wear while managing to increase battery life and increasing the IPX rating to IP57, making them completely waterproof, dustproof, and sweatproof. So whether you’re working out indoors or outdoors, the Elite Active 75t is sure to survive any terrain.

Moreover, the Jabra Elite Active 75t is the successor to the Jabra Elite Active 65t, which was already an excellent headset when it was first released. The Elite Active 75t, on the other hand, had made numerous enhancements that address some of the difficulties and concerns that many consumers had with the previous 65t.

Though in reality, the Jabra Elite Active 75t actually retains and instead improves upon the 65t’s best features. Multipoint connectivity now allows you to pair and use many devices at the same time, and it also has a quick charge feature and inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0. It simply only takes 15 minutes to charge it for an hour of use.

When it comes to sound quality, the Elite series from Jabra delivers the same bright audio we know from Jabra, with the exception that the bass has been fine-tuned for a deeper, more detailed sound. Furthermore, the music may be further adjusted via the Jabra app. Active noise cancellation can also be utilized to block out ambient sounds when exercising in noisy environments such as the gym.

What We Love About The Jabra Elite Active 75t

Design & Build Quality

design-and-build-quality

The Elite Active 75t is 22% smaller than its predecessor, the Elite Active 65. However, it does still have the same appealing looks and shape as its less sports-oriented sibling, the Elite 75t. Aside from appearances, the IP rating of IP57 is the most essential design factor here. Jabra designed these buds to be waterproof, dust-proof, and sweat-proof. In other words, as long as they don’t fall into the ocean, you’ll be able to use them for a long time and can mostly withstand any weather condition.

I particularly like the built-in magnets on the inside of the buds, which allow you to connect them so they don’t roll off flat surfaces as easily. Not to mention, the charging case is identical to the one that came with the previous Elite 75t.

Though keep in mind, the charging case does feel slightly more durable and rugged. Which I find particularly a good thing as it means it won’t slip off my sweat-slick fingers after an intense workout. Furthermore, despite the fact that it is not water-resistant, it provides sufficient protection to keep the buds safe when not in use.

Unlike the other charging cases, the magnetic lid on the Elite Active 75t’s case closes snugly, and the magnetic connectors on the inside keep the buds locked in, so they don’t spill out and fly across the floor when the case is dropped. This is a pretty useful feature if you’re clumsy like me.

There are six various finishes to choose from, including blue, green, grey, bronze-ish, and a couple of black versions. Regardless of the color you choose, you’ll be getting a pair of earbuds that are superbly constructed and feel built to last. Jabra even squeezed in a ‘pressure relief vent’ on each earbud to reduce in-ear pressure caused by lower frequencies, as well as a couple of mics per earbud for call quality and active noise cancellation.

Comfortability

elite-active-75t-comfortability

The Jabra Elite series has never had a problem with its fit on their consumers’ ears. When properly adjusted on the ear, the Elite Active 75t provides some of the best on-ear stability and grip control available in the market. When practicing more strenuous exercises, you won’t have to worry about the earphones popping out frequently and they will surely stay put.

The silicone tips on the Elite Active 75t provide a wonderful, tight seal that absorbs sweat efficiently to prevent any kind of slippage. The Elite Active 75t’s weight has also been reduced to a mere 0.19 ounces, making it an ultra-lightweight pair of earbuds that won’t strain your ears or pockets.

Longer Battery Life

longer-battery-life

Despite their smaller form, Jabra was able to increase the battery life on the Elite Active 75t. However, all in all, the battery life of the Jabra Elite Active 75t is just decent. It’s nothing exceptional and their 6.5-hour continuous battery life falls short of the stated one hour on their product information. But it’s still plenty of listening time for your daily commutes and can last you a few hours of workout sessions.

There’s also a power-saving feature that turns them off after 30 minutes of inactivity or 15 minutes of not being connected to a device, which is convenient if you forget to turn them off before throwing them in your bag. Moreover, the charging case can contain up to three more charges, and the headphones take around two hours to fully recharge.

Though it’s best to keep in mind that battery performance varies depending on how you use it. So it’s normal if your headphones produce different results.

Sound Quality

sound-quality

Hands down, the Elite Active 75t is one of the best-sounding wireless earbuds on the market. Its predecessors had issues with the low end, which might be a little overbearing on certain tunes. However, the Elite Active 75t didn’t have the same problems due to the soundstage being better balanced resulting in detailed and bright audio quality.

Because we’re talking about one of the best sports headphones, the bass on the Elite Active 75t is highly prioritized when it comes to overall sound quality. There’s plenty of fuel here to get you through even the most extensive workout routines. Though I do have to remind you that volumes on these particular earbuds get quite loud. So I recommend turning it down a notch or two when listening to loud music.

The sound does not distort, but it becomes extremely loud, to the point where it hurts your eardrums and renders HearThrough ineffective. The good news is that listening to a medium volume level results in outstanding clarity and tight bass.

Our Least Favorite Thing

Touch Controls Take Some Time Getting Used To

touch-controls-are-hit-or-miss

At this point, I’m just nitpicking and the touch controls aren’t that bad. But it does take time getting used to especially if you have larger fingers. Due to its smaller size, the physical touch controls on the Jabra Elite Active 75t is a bit of a hit or miss. And I mean that literally.

Although employing a button rather than the more usual capacitive touch surface gives commands more optimism, tapping the earpiece can jeopardize the nice comfy fit you’ve acquired. Not to mention, it can also break your focus on your current workout routine by trying to configure the buttons. When modifying volume levels with a ‘push and hold’ action, it’s likewise hit-or-miss.

Fortunately, the Elite Active 75t can be controlled in a variety of ways, including through the dedicated Jabra app. Honestly, I would still prefer to be able to conveniently control my earbuds by a touch of a button seamlessly but it’s still nice to have other options. These earbuds also work well with a lot of voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri.

On top of all that, owing to beamform technology spread around the mic array, your commands are recognized just as well as your voice calls.

In A Nutshell

jabra-elite-active-75t-pros-and-cons

Now that we have discussed the things we liked and disliked about the Jabra Elite Active 75t, here is a narrowed-down list of the good and the bad with these particular pair of workout headphones.

Pros

  • Stays on the ears even during rigorous workouts.
  • Audio customization through the use of the Jabra app.
  • Durable and resistant to sweat, water, and dust.
  • Active and passive noise cancellation options.
  • Bass is excellent if you love hearing heavy bass in your music.
  • Quick charging features.

Cons

  • Bass might be too heavy for non-bass lovers.
  • Controls may take some time getting used to due to its smaller size.

Our Final Verdict

jabra-elite-active-75t-conclusion

Overall, the Jabra Elite Active 75t is an excellent sports headset ideal for any fitness enthusiasts out there. They include an energizing, thumpy sound profile that might help you stay motivated during training, as well as easy-to-follow controls and active noise canceling features. Additionally, they’re easy to pack into your workout bag or your pockets because of their small size, and they’re comfortable and stable. They may not be solid enough for high-impact exercises like kickboxing or gymnastics, but they’re ideal for running and other workout routines.

Do you already own the Jabra Elite Active 75t? Did it meet your expectations? Or are you still contemplating purchasing these earbuds? Let me know in the comments section below if you have any insights, experiences, or suggestions to share. I would love to hear all your thoughts!

With that in mind, while the best headphones in the market for 2021 will sound great and provide awesome quality no matter what, the headphones and earbuds listed below have certain elements and special features that make them especially well-suited to staying in shape.

So what exactly makes a pair of headphones good and suited for working out?

What Makes A Good Pair Of Headphones?

best-workout-headphones-overview-2

Whenever you go to the gym, I’m sure that you’ll want the best workout headphones around your ears. Everyone knows that listening to music while exercising can help you stay motivated. But there’s actually more to it than just simply listening to your favorite music.

I’m pretty sure that plenty of you have already gone through several kinds of headphones and earphones throughout your life. You might already have your tried and tested favorites and by now, you probably know too that some models are just better than the others and are far more suited for working out.

Although many of the best wireless headphones sound fantastic, only a few have a strong enough fit in your ears so you can run, jump, squat, and crunch without them coming loose from your ears. Trust me, the last thing you want is having to hang onto your earphones or having to fix them constantly as you run your miles on a treadmill or while you’re lifting a barbell.

best-workout-headphones-overview-2

Wireless workout headphones or earbuds, in my opinion, are the best options for any gymgoer. They should ideally be true-wireless earphones, with no cable obstructing your mobility in any manner.

Apart from that, whether they’re over-ear headphones with a plush ear cup or in-ear earbuds with silicone ear tips, headphones should provide you with a secure and pleasant fit. It goes without saying that losing an earbud during a run or a bike ride is a huge pain in the backside.

Furthermore, durability, decent sound quality, reliable performance, battery life, and noise cancellation are all important features as well that shouldn’t be overlooked. Finally, for obvious reasons, they must be sweat-resistant, if not completely waterproof.

Earbuds Vs. Headphones

earphones-vs-headphones

Picking between these two types of devices may not be a matter of import for some. In fact, to some of you, the only thing that might matter is that they give amazing sound quality while providing sweat-resistant designs that remain in place and can last you several workout sessions. But in case you’re curious or need help in deciding whether to go for headphones or earbuds, I’ve listed below the good and the bad of each device.

Headphones

earphones-vs-headphones-2

Headphones, like earbuds, can come with or without a wire attached to your smartphone. They are also available in two different styles: over the ear and on the ear. Furthermore, headphones are secured to your head by a band that passes over the top of your head and connects each earpiece.

Because they occupy the space directly outside your ear, over-the-ear headphones produce better sound. This is in sharp contrast to earbuds, which sit directly inside your ear canal. This gives the sound a richer quality and helps to block out any unwanted background noises.

Over-the-ear headphones may be right for you if you enjoy getting into your zone and ignoring everyone and everything else going on at the gym. On-ear headphones reduce ambient noise blockage slightly, but some people may want to be aware of their surroundings and hear what’s going on around them, so it’s a matter of personal preference.

Headphones that cover your entire ear, on the other hand, can trap sweat around your ear. Because your head produces the greatest heat of any part of your body. Wearing tight-fitting headphones over your ears can make them sweaty and uncomfortable over time.

Furthermore, due to the tight fit of the band, you will have to sacrifice your hair or wear a cap when wearing headphones. Headphone hair isn’t the most attractive sight but hey, that’s all up to you if looking good is important to you as well.

Earphones

earphones-vs-headphones-3

A few years ago, the majority of earbuds that we knew usually came with a cord. But as technology becomes more advanced every passing day, the option for Bluetooth earphones is now everywhere and has been dominating the market ever since the biggest smartphone manufacturers decided to get rid of the headphone jack from their devices.

They also make earbuds that don’t have any cables and can connect to your Bluetooth device separately. Other differences can be found in the forms and sizes of these earpieces. Some of you may notice some are sphere-shaped in some cases and sometimes, they may have been expertly constructed to ergonomically fit in your ear canal.

The earphones that sport G-shaped earpieces can fit perfectly in your ear. You can go for a run, do box jumps, jump rope, or play hoops with them without worrying about them ever falling out. For some of you, this is something that might be crucial when it comes to deciding whether an earphone is good enough for your workouts.

Meanwhile, the more common sphere-shaped earbuds tend to fall out too readily and don’t allow for quick movements due to the risk of them falling out frequently. However, another advantage of earphones with headphones is that they aren’t bulky. You can easily slip them into your pockets without any discomfort.

All in all, both headphones and earphones come with their own set of advantages and shortcomings. It’s up to you to select which is the best option for you depending on your personal preference, criteria, and your training style.

2. Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

bose-quietcomfort-earbuds

Overview

Without a doubt, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are up there with the finest true wireless models in the market. The great majority of Bose’s noise-canceling headphones have been on- and over-ear designs, but the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds didn’t quite disappoint despite being a true wireless type of earphones.

They’re small and lightweight, and you’ll have no trouble listening for several hours at a time. Bose’s QuietComfort earbuds are comfortable to wear during the average training session and they pretty much feel like a high-quality product. The battery lasts six hours on a single charge, and the charging case adds two more charges for a total of 18 hours. Personally, I find that just okay and not that exceptional.

In addition to that, the QuietComfort Earbuds from Bose are also both sweat and weather-resistant, making them really ideal for either indoor and outdoor workouts. The accompanying app’s ability to customize some functions and controls, as well as alter the outstanding noise-cancellation, adds to the ease of usage. The volume controls on the touch screen are the cherry on top.

Furthermore, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds have a terrific sense of dynamism, as well as strength and composure. The QuietComfort feels full when playing the bass notes, which sound full-bodied and can go really deep.

Overall, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are terrific all-around with exceptional musicality and really solid noise cancellation to keep distracting sounds away. They’re a match for any opponent at this level with the only major drawback being its expensive price.

3. Beats Powerbeats Pro

beats-powerbeats-pro

Overview

How well the Beats‘ first truly wireless headphones, the Powerbeats Pro, fit your ears will determine how much you’ll actually enjoy using them. If one of the four provided silicon tips provides a comfortable, snug fit around your ears, you’ll undoubtedly have fun with these headphones and feel justified in spending a few hundred dollars on them.

According to Beats, the company is using new improved piston drivers that are claimed to reduce distortion. As a result, the Powerbeats Pro produces a richer, cleaner sound with bass that is not just deeper but also tighter.

However, with these sorts of noise-isolating headphones, a good seal is essential for optimizing sound quality. So if the tips aren’t seated firmly in your ear canals, you may lose some bass and a noticeable decrease in sound quality as you listen to your music during your workout sessions.

beats-powerbeats-pro-overview

Moreover, the Powerbeats Pro also shares something similar with the Apple Airpods which is the new H1 chip that supports Bluetooth 5. This means Apple users will get the same fast-pairing function and always-on Siri feature, which allows you to activate Siri without touching a button. Instead, you can just say a quick greeting to Siri as you do with other Apple devices.

You may also ask Siri to increase or decrease the volume, and Apple Music customers can ask Siri to skip ahead and backward through music as much as they like. Siri functions are obviously only available on Apple devices, but Android users can still use this particular earphone model without a fuss. You’ll just have to control the playback and volume levels through the buttons on the earpieces.

Upon further inspection, optical sensors are integrated inside the buds as you can see if you look closely. With this feature, the Powerbeats Pro can tell whether you have the buds in your ears or not, so your music will pause and resume automatically according to this.

Whether you’re in the gym or doing your daily neighborhood speed walks, you’ll be able to silence exterior sounds easily and focus on the music pumping you up. But if you’re not too fond of completely blocking out ambient noise, you can also turn on Transparency Mode on the AirPods Pro to hear your surroundings more clearly without halting your favorite song.

Overview

Although Adidas isn’t really a brand that comes to mind when talking about sports headphones, the RPT-01 boasts a design as well as features that will pique your curiosity. With a fashionable, sturdy mesh fabric and IPX4-rated water-resistance protection, these on-ear cans have the same sustainable aesthetics as the company’s running shoes. Not to mention, these headphones were created by the same Swedish company that created Urbanears headphones, and they sound really well, with a well-balanced sound that doesn’t rely too heavily on the bass.

Apart from that, the controls on the Adidas RPT-01 are also innovative, intuitive, and the cushioned pads are very comfortable to wear on your ears. The headband is, however, rather snug to provide a solid fit.

The Galaxy Buds Pro is the first wireless earbuds from Samsung to receive an IPX7 waterproof grade. In case you’re unaware, this is a significant improvement over the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live’s IPX2 rating, as it basically ensures complete protection from water and perspiration during even the most rigorous workout routines.

As a result, this updated set of headphones from Samsung is considerably more fitness-friendly than its predecessor.

Apart from premium audio quality, adjustable ANC with a transparency option, and, most importantly, a secure fit, you’re also getting the Galaxy Buds Pro at a fairly affordable price which I think is a really huge steal for headphones of this quality. Before You Buy

After sharing our top picks for the best headphones in 2021, here are some things to consider and keep in mind as you go shopping for your next pair of headphones.

Form Factor

best-workout-headphones-before-you-buy-1

Wireless in-ear and over-ear headphones are available in a variety of styles that can be used throughout a workout. It is important to learn everything there is to know about them so you know which one will suit you best. It would be a huge inconvenience for you and your workout routines if the headphones are uncomfortable or are constantly getting loose from your ears mid-exercise.

Imagine walking or running on the treadmill while your headphones frequently pop off your ears or dangle from your neck, isn’t the thought uncomfortable? With that in mind, below are some examples of the most common headphone designs you might see in the market.

In-Ear Headphones

in-ear-headphones

Because of their portability and lightness, wireless in-ear headphones are a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts. As of current, In-Ear Monitors (IEMs) and Earbuds are the two types of headphones available.

IEMs are types of headphones with driver units that are placed into your ear canals and stay fitted there. IEMs also come with foam or silicone ear tips in a variety of sizes to accommodate different-sized ears.

Meanwhile, earbuds are inserted into the concha bowl of your ears, which is the bottom cup of your ears just before the canal. They are frequently one-size-fits-all which can be a little uncomfortable if your ear shape doesn’t suit the earbuds, unlike IEMs and their removable ear tips. As a result, earbuds may fit less snugly and fall off more frequently during exercises than IEMs.

Over-Ear Headphones

over-ear-headphones

Wireless over-ear headphones include ear cups that fit over the ear and a headband to keep the headphones in place on top of your head. Over-ear headphones are more likely to stay snug when you’re is exercising in terms of form factor. However, this is only true as long as the clamping force is not too tight around your head. Otherwise, you’ll feel increasingly more uncomfortable with wearing it over time.

Aside from that, over-ear headphones also have their own drawbacks. They are thicker than in-ear headphones, and sweat will harm the ear pads if they are not washable or properly taken care of.

Water/Sweat Resistance

best-workout-headphones-before-you-buy-2

Sweat is the ultimate proof test for workout headphones, and it has a significant impact on their durability. In the long run, it might make headphones unusable or even impossible to use if they’re not water or sweat-resistant.

This is why it’s crucial to consider the level of protection provided by headphones and choose whether you require water-resistant or waterproof headphones. The Ingress Protection (IP) rating is used in the industry to show how sweat-proof or water-proof an item is.

Noise Cancellation & Sound Isolation

best-workout-headphones-before-you-buy-3

Noise isolation is built into both in-ear and on-ear headphones by default which allows these devices to reduce ambient noise in some way. There are also wireless headphones with active noise-canceling technology that entirely blocks out background noises or ambient sounds that you don’t want to hear as you work out, regardless of whether you’re exercising outdoors or indoors in a gym.

Choose Wireless

choose-wireless-headphones

As you might already know, the world is slowly accepting the fact that wireless devices are the future. And our beloved headphones are part of that. Especially since major manufacturers are deciding to forego headphone jacks in order to make their devices slimmer.

With that mind in mind, it’s best to go wireless when you’re on the hunt for your next set of headphones. Cords can be inconvenient when working out since they can become tangled in equipment and frequently torn out of your ear with each movement. Not to mention, it also hinders mobility.

As a result, most of the more affordable pairs of headphones come with cords while the wireless options tend to be more expensive than their wired counterparts. There are also several cordless earbud alternatives available, but battery life might also be a concern. While the cables are more cumbersome, they won’t die on you in the middle of a deadlift.

However, this shouldn’t stop you from choosing wireless earphones at all. More and more manufacturers each day are releasing more affordable wireless earphones without compromising on battery life. You just have to make sure that your devices are fully charged before each workout session.

Conclusion

best-workout-headphones-2021-conclusion

It’s not always easy to choose the best wireless workout headphones for your specific demands when there are a thousand options to choose from in the market. But hopefully, this guide was at least able to help you out have an idea on which headphones for working out will suit you best.

Do you already own any of the listed headphones above? Did your favorite make it into our list? Let me know in the comments section below if you have any suggestions, questions, or insights to share regarding our list of the best headphones of 2021. I would love to hear all your thoughts!

The Best Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds: A Budget Friendly Audio Solution

The Best Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds: A Budget-Friendly Audio Solution

If you’re searching for an affordable pair of powerful Bluetooth earphones with a reliable signal then you should seriously consider ENACFIRE E18 wireless earbuds. Tangled wires are now a thing of the past thanks to huge improvements in wireless technology that allow for uninterrupted streaming of your music. The EnacFire E18 are an advanced pair of cable-free earbuds with powerful audio, quick pairing and cost a third of the price of Apple AirPods.

EnacFire E18 Cutting-Edge Charging System

The earbuds are charged and stored inside an advanced magnetic charging case that automatically fast charges the earphones to 80% in just half an hour. It then intelligently switches to a trickle charge to extend the battery life of the earbuds and charges the inbuilt battery inside the case. The charging system is built to prevent overcharging and continual charging (when not required).

The-Best-Bluetooth-Wireless-Earbuds-long-battery-life

The case gives you the freedom to recharge your earbuds whilst on the move. You can charge the earphones up to 4 times with a full case battery and enjoy 3 hours 30 minutes of music with each charge. The clever charging technology means that you never need to worry about running out of juice.

Instant Linking Technology

E18 wireless earbuds are easier to link than ever. Once paired with your device they are always ready without the need to press any buttons to connect. When pairing them for the first time, simply remove them from the case and quickly link them using your device’s Bluetooth options. After the initial pair, just take out the earphones, put them on and start playing your music, the earbuds will connect to your device automatically.

EnacFire E18 Design & Sizing

The E18 earbuds are discreet and stylish. They are completely cord-free and will never get in the way. Unlike the Apple AirPods, they do not have a stick that extends from your ears towards your cheeks. They are so small that there’s no need to remove them from your ears when talking to someone.

The earbuds are medium-sized but not too big. In my opinion, I feel that EnacFire got the sizing correct. Once fixed to your ears, it’s easy to forget that they are there. The earbuds are not far off the size of hearing aids. When you take the earbuds out of their packaging, they look immaculate and are built from high-quality material.

EnacFire E18 Comfort & Fit

The earbuds take a bit of getting used to because they feel awkward at first. The section of the earbud that goes into the ear canal is quite small and can often give the impression that the earbuds are not securely fixed to your ears but don’t worry as this section is not the part that keeps the earbuds secured.

The-Best-Bluetooth-Wireless-Earbuds-share-your-happiness

Initially, it will feel like the earphones will drop out of your ear but trust me when I say that they will not. I gave the earbuds the head-shaking test expecting them to fall out when I shook my head with vigor but they stayed in place, thanks to the clever design that fixes the whole earbud inside your ear. It’s evident that the manufacturer has spent a considerable amount of time refining the E18 design with a unique fit that remains secured to your ears.

EnacFire E18 Sound Quality

The sound quality is impressive for a pair of earphones in a low price range. I wouldn’t compare them to Bose earphones but remember that they are much cheaper and a good buy for anyone looking for a set of affordable earbuds with great audio clarity.

The bass has a decent level of depth and they sound much better than a standard pair of earphones that come packaged with iPhone and Android phones. The audio quality is high for everyday normal usage. The sound from earphones, in this price range, can often become distorted when pushed to the limit, but this is not the case with the E18 earbuds. I would compare these close to the sound quality of Sennheiser in-ear earphones which we all know to be a great sounding brand.

The-Best-Bluetooth-Wireless-Earbuds-A-Budget-Friendly-Audio-Solution

Ease of use and Connectivity

As mentioned earlier, these earbuds are extremely easy to connect. Similar to the Apple AirPods, there are no buttons to press. The connectivity is the easiest that I’ve experienced outside the realms of the AirPods. Simply take the E18 earphones out of the case, press yes on your phone and they are already linked and ready to go.

If you get a second pair of E18 earbuds, to use whilst the other is charging, this isn’t an issue. I linked both pairs to my phone and didn’t get any conflicts with the software. This means that you can connect 2 pairs of earbuds and swap between them. I’ve tried this with similar headphones from other brands but always found that I needed to unlink one pair from my phone to use the other.

The-Best-Bluetooth-Wireless-Earbuds-Budget-Friendly-Audio

EnacFire E18 Bluetooth Range

I was surprised that the signal was uninterrupted even when I left my phone downstairs. My house is on 3 floors and I usually work on the top floor listening to music whilst my phone is in the kitchen downstairs (I usually forget my phone there). I can walk around the house cleaning up and listening to music without disruption to the Bluetooth signal, even with several walls in between the phone and E18 earbuds. To date, these earphones have the best connection that I’ve tested. Top marks here.

Pros:

  • Uniquely designed earbuds that do not fall out.
  • Affordable earbuds with audio quality that matches up to recognised brands such as Sennheiser.
  • High-quality materials.
  • Linking is instant and automatic.
  • Case doubles up as a storage device and on-the-go charging unit.

Cons:

  • Call volume is lower than music volume. It can be difficult to here people on the other end during a call.

The ENACFIRE E18 wireless earbuds are a must-have for anyone looking for an affordable pair of wireless earphones with strong audio that matches premium alternatives, an advanced charging system and instant linking that doesn’t require buttons. The Best Wireless Headphones For Working Out- Ultimate Fitness Companion

The Best Wireless Headphones For Working Out

A good workout needs a good playlist. With the right set of headphones, music is a great motivator to power through exercise. What are the best wireless headphones for working out? I’ve tried various sets and concluded that Jaybird X3 headphones are the front-runner.

They produce great sound and can be customised to fit securely so that they don’t fall out during a workout. The battery life runs for 8 hours and is enough for several exercise sessions. The earbuds are incredibly durable and can endure demanding workouts, wetness, sweat and the outdoor elements.

Jaybird-X3-In-Ear-Wireless-Bluetooth-Sports-Headphones-exercise

Why are the Jaybird X3my best choice? Because they excelled at most, if not all, of the challenges of working out i.e. sweat, sudden movements, quick music selection and so on. The most important feature of workout headphones is their ability to stay securely in your ear regardless of the type of exercise. Sweat and moisture is a big problem too, Jaybird is so confident that the X3 can repel sweat that they provide a one-year warranty against sweat damage.

I like that you can adjust the X3’s fit so that the cable can hang under or over your earlobe, it shouldn’t take too long to get the perfect fit and you’ll be grateful once you start using the headphones.

X3’s exclusive charger removes the standard Micro-USB port which is susceptible to sweat damage. I used the Jaybird X3 for my toughest workouts which included an outdoor run that encountered sudden winds and a heavy downpour. The headphones took a pounding and emerged victoriously.

Quick summary of Jaybird X3 features:

  • The headphones will not fall out during exercise thanks to the proprietary silicone ear fins that fasten to the upper and lower areas of your ear to provide a comfortable fit, securing the earbuds inside whilst working out or during intense physical exertion. The package includes various sized silicone tips for great noise insulation and a perfect fit.
  • As mentioned earlier, the X3 earphones are sweat-proof. They are durable, stylish and perfect for most types of sports, fitness programs and any type of weather (including heavy rain). They feature a fancy hydrophobic nano-coating to fend off moisture.
  • Never worry about the battery running out during exercise. The X3 earphones are fitted with an 8-hour battery. The quick charge feature provides 1 hour of performance from a 15-minute charge.
  • You can customise X3’s audio through the MySound App which lets you adjust bass, treble and other settings which can then be saved to your profile.

Is Jaybird X3 a Worthy Upgrade?

I try to keep my fitness schedule as varied as possible and usually fit in at least 5 grueling sessions a week. My routine includes weight training, outdoor running, cycling, kettlebell training, HIIT sessions, rowing and aerobic step. As you know, each exercise requires a different type of movement. The variation means that I need a set of headphones that won’t fall out, get in the way or fail to withstand the rigor. X3 meets the criteria.

X3 is the third version of Jaybird’s Bluetooth X range and are definitely the best I’ve tried to date. I like that they blend into the background of my workout and that I hardly notice them once they’re on. There’s also a host of technology improvements over the previous models including a more stable Bluetooth connection.

Jaybird X3 Size

The earbuds on the X3 are approximately a third smaller than the previous X2 earphones. I was impressed that the same high quality of music was maintained in a smaller enclosure.

The benefits of smaller earphones are that you can slip on a cycling helmet or any other type of headgear without the headphones becoming an obstruction. The earphones sit further inside your ear and do not stick out as much as the older X2 model.

Jaybird X3 Sound Quality

The sound quality is amongst the best that I’ve heard from a pair of wireless earphones so small. The bass has depth and the mids come through with a high level of clarity. I like to play my music loud especially when training outdoors- whilst using the Jaybird X3s I never experienced any sort of distortion with bass-heavy songs.

Charging Jaybird X3

Jaybird-X3-In-Ear-Wireless-Bluetooth-Sports-Headphones-battery-lifeThe unique charging system has its benefits and drawbacks. On one hand, you get a unique charging clip that clips to an attachment on the remote, this allows for a smaller earbud as it eliminates the need of charging directly into one of the earbuds as with the earlier X2 model. Another benefit is that the new system is not prone to sweat damage.

The drawback of the charging system is that you now need a specific charge clip, unlike the universal micro USB cable. You’ll be stuck with dead headphones if you forget the clip on your travels or lose it altogether. I still think that the advantage of sweat resistance on the new clip outweighs the drawback.

Jaybird X3 Remote and Cable

I was worried that the remote would get in the way and swing around, whilst I was exercising, because it is bigger than the older model. This wasn’t an issue as the remote is lighter than the one on the X2. The remote and buttons are made from a plastic material that feels sturdier and better than the old one. The remote includes controls for rewinding, skipping and pausing music and it includes microphones to take or make calls.

The cable connecting the remote to the earbuds is flat and feels stronger than the last model. Similar to the X2, the cable doesn’t get tangled up. My trickiest workouts, that combine a lot of different movements, are HIIT sessions and kettlebells- Movements range from standing, squatting, laying down or jumping up high within seconds. The Jaybird X3 headphones handle these varied movements incredibly well- they don’t budge.
